The title page continues, "In prose and verse with a Memoir of the Author by John Corry. To which is added a rendering into simple English of the Dialogue of Tummus and Meary, with the idioms and similes retained, and explanatory notes, etc., by Elijah Ridings. Published simultaneously in Manchester and London in 1862. Plentiful black-and-white plates, each with a tissue-paper guard sheet, with a little foxing. Stout octavo format, bound in dark blue cloth binding which is worn at the top and bottom of the spine, and fore-corners rubbed. Previous owner's inscription at first free endpaper identified by the former owner, Gershon Legman, as that of a phrenologist. From the personal library of Gershon Legman, as transmitted through his fabulous widow, Judith Legman. xxxix [2], 42-534 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
