The Inside World: In Memory of W.H. Auden, Poems

Poet, playwright, and critic, Wystan Hugh Auden was an essential figure in the development of literature throughout the 20th century. With great relevance to the modern struggles of humanity, this collection aspires to represent the power of Auden to move contemporary audiences.
Philosopher-poet William C. Graham began to write poetry under Auden’s influence as a graduate student. Adopting him as a poetic mentor, Graham had numerous opportunities to form a close bond with Auden as they became friends and colleagues through visits to Canada and Austria. This book brings together a collection of poetry, essays, and reflections by Graham that shed light on Auden’s life, work, and impact. Politics, society, culture, and philosophy were consistent undercurrents throughout Auden’s work, and he actively worked towards understanding the human condition. Graham follows in Auden’s footsteps by examining the alchemy of poetry in The Inside World and its ability to foster change and growth.
Investigating the deep-rooted intersections between poetry and philosophy, a connection held dear to both Auden and Graham, this meaningful tribute to the legendary poet seeks to remind us that the spirit of Auden’s poetry lives on.
