Mauries (Jewelry by Chanel, LJ 10/15/93) was inspired to write this book by "[his] astonishment at the speed at which trends...have given way to one another over the last 30 years," which he attributes to the baby boomers' "attention-deficit voraciousness." With the help of Lacroix's drawings, Mauries captures interior decorating styles of the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s with wit and whimsy. Neo-Art Nouveau, Scandinavian Modern, Memphis, Shaker, Colefax and Fowler, and Shabby Chic are a few of the styles described that have been (or still remain) popular in France, England, and the United States. Those familiar with interior design will especially enjoy this poke at late 20th-century decorating. Fashion design collections should purchase for famed couturier Lacroix's work.
