Wounded Light: Surviving PTSD

A brutally honest, emotionally raw account of what happens after the uniform comes off.

In Wounded Light, Canadian Armed Forces veteran William Hachey exposes the silent war that begins when the battlefield is behind you—but the trauma is not. With unflinching detail and grounded authenticity, Hachey walks readers through the physical, mental, and spiritual toll of service-related PTSD, medical release, institutional betrayal, and the daily struggle to simply stay alive.

This is not a recovery success story wrapped in clichés. This is survival—one breath, one breakdown, one moment of clarity at a time. Told in a deeply personal, educational tone, Wounded Light offers readers a look inside the lived experience of invisible wounds, from bureaucratic neglect to identity loss, fractured relationships, and the quiet victories that go unseen.

Whether you're a veteran, a family member, a mental health professional, or someone seeking to understand the unspoken cost of service, this book will challenge you, inform you, and stay with you. It doesn’t offer easy answers—just truth, and the unwavering belief that honesty might be the first step toward healing.
