A Writer's Reference: Light Your Writing on Fire (Paperback or Softback)

A Writers Reference is a collection of notes on writing from the author's years working on novels. In addition to a collection of quips and rules of thumb from writers, A Writers Reference has notes on

• Beginners' mistakes: writing that stops most agents and publishers reading (and, of course, many readers)

• How to proofread, edit and revise a manuscript

• How to format and prepare a manuscript, both for agent and e-publication submission

• The sales materials needed: synopses, sales blurbs, log lines, and genre selection

• What your legal (copyright) rights are, both practically and legally

• The meaning of the specialized vocabulary of

  • The publishing establishment

  • Writers and rhetoriticians

  • Critics of prose

A Writers Reference irreverently looks at many aspect of novelists' craft and career with many examples of how you can undermine yourself. It also gives many positive outlooks and nudges for writers and satirizes us to help us write better.

In an era when most authors will self-publish, A Writers Reference will help novelists through the maze of indie or e- publishing and that of preparing their manuscript for submission to agents or to editors at legacy publishing houses.
