Writing Extravaganza!: Journal Prompts & Story Starters for Creative Teens, Senior Edition

One chapter is ending. Give them space to write what comes next.

Writing Extravaganza! Senior Edition gives twelfth-grade writers an inviting place to explore graduation, changing relationships, family, college and career decisions, identity, independence, uncertainty, and life beyond high school. Relatable story starters and thoughtful reflection pages make it easier to enter the page without turning writing into another assignment with one correct answer.

More than an ordinary writing journal
• Senior-specific story starters draw from future roommates, Senior Prom, graduation traditions, choosing a college major, visiting friends away at school, spring break, military service, post-graduation plans, changing friendships, and the final memorable moments of high school.
• Paired reflection pages invite new perspectives through If I Could Go Back and But I Can't, Hold On and Let Go, A Wasted Life and A Life Well-Lived, Past Changes and Changes Ahead, The Best of Me and The Worst of Me, and Isolated and Connected.
• Future-focused exercises encourage writers to imagine the next five years, explore realistic jobs and fields of study, examine how they use their time, prepare for important conversations, identify core values, and write to their past and future selves.
• Thoughtful decision-making tools help writers compare choices, weigh advantages and disadvantages, test best- and worst-case outcomes, question mind-reading assumptions, notice automatic negative thoughts, consider consequences, and turn regret into a healthier next plan.
• Creative variety includes stories, poems, letters, autobiography, sensory imagery, true crime, picture prompts, daydreams, and playful challenges.
• Expanded resources include an original Feelings and Emotions Vocabulary Wheel, Core Values, Self-Care Activities, and a Distraction List.

Made to use their way
Seniors can choose any page that speaks to them and write privately, or a parent, grandparent, teacher, homeschool educator, counselor, or other trusted adult can use a prompt to open a meaningful conversation. The flexible format also welcomes young people who have plenty to say but do not always enjoy conventional writing assignments.

Senior year belongs to two worlds. There are friendships, family routines, celebrations, regrets, and familiar hallways to leave behind - and unfamiliar choices about college, work, service, relationships, and independence waiting ahead. This book gives teens room to honor where they have been, decide what they want to carry forward, and begin imagining adulthood in their own voice.

A meaningful high-school graduation gift
Whether they already love to write or need a more personal reason to begin, Writing Extravaganza! offers a screen-free space for creativity, self-expression, resilience, perspective, and honest reflection. The Senior Edition completes an eight-book journey of grade-specific writing and personal growth from fifth grade through graduation.

Help them close one chapter - and begin the next in their own words.
