Writing Poetry (Teach Yourself: Writer's Library)

Don't think you can learn how to write poetry? You might want to try reading Teach Yourself Writing Poetry before you decide. Part inspiration and part practical application, this book is designed to help you visualize your images with words; to set context, mood, and tone; to draft and revise your work; and, of course, to get your work published.

The winner of the 1983 Arvon International Poetry Competition, John Hartley Williams has had many of his poems published. Matthew Sweeney, also widely published, is a frequent reviewer of poetry books for children. He was writer-in-residence at London's South Bank Centre in 1994-95.
