About this Item

Anthony Trollope's Works [spine titles]. 1900-1902. Royal Edition, Limited to 1,250 sets, this is number 214. (Most sets were cloth-bound; this set likely from the first 250 'Collector's Edition' in leather bindings by Haddon*, though not so indicated.) Complete in 30 octavo volumes (6x8 in./21.5 cm) bound in a close grain crimson Morocco half-leather and marbled boards with matching marbled end-papers. Spines have gold titles and decorations; top edges gilt, others un-trimmed. Text printed in a small but readable font on TROLLOPE water-marked laid paper with wide margins; photogravure frontispieces and illustrations have tissue guards. Condition is Very Good to Near Fine, very light rubbing and minor defects mostly at spine ends of only a few volumes; contents are very clean and bright. Provenance: large custom automobile-illustrated designer-initialed bookplate of Edward C. Striffler on front paste-down of each volume. A handsome, well-preserved set.
