XAI Based Intelligent Systems for Society 5.0 focuses on the development and analysis of Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI)-based models and intelligent systems that can be utilized for Society 5.0―characterized by a knowledge intensive, data driven, and non-monetary society. The book delves into the issues of transparency, explainability, data fusion, and interpretability, which are significant for the development of a super smart society and are addressed through XAI-based models and techniques. XAI-based deep learning models, fuzzy and hybrid intelligent systems, expert systems, and intrinsic explainable models in the context of Society 5.0 are presented in detail.The book also addresses―using XAI-based intelligent techniques―the privacy issues intrinsic in storing huge amounts of data or information in virtual space. Prof. Dr. Fadi Al-Turjman received his Ph.D. in computer science from Queen’s University, Canada, in 2011. He is the “advisor to the chairman of the board of trustees on AI and informatics” at Near East University (NEU), Turkey, and the founding dean for AI and Informatics faculty in the same university. Prof. Al-Turjman is the head of Software Engineering Department, and the founding director for the AI and Robotics Institute and the International Research Center for AI and IoT at NEU. He has been awarded the lifetime golden-award of Dr. Suat Gunsel from Near East University for the year 2022, in addition to several other recognitions and best research awards at key international venues. Prof. Al-Turjman is a leading authority in the areas of smart/intelligent IoT systems, wireless, and mobile networks’ architectures, protocols, deployments, and performance evaluation in Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT). His publication history spans over 650 SCI/E publications, in addition to numerous keynotes and plenary talks at flagship venues. He has authored and edited more than 100 books about AI, cognition, security, and wireless sensor networks’ deployments in smart IoT environments, which have been published by well-reputed publishers such as IEEE, Taylor and Francis, Elsevier, IET, and Springer. Prof. Al-Turjman is leading a number of international conferences and workshops in flagship AI and IoT societies. Currently, he serves as a book series editor with distinguished publishers, and the lead guest/associate editor for several top tier journals, including the IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials (IF 23.9) and the Elsevier Sustainable Cities and Society (IF 10.8).

Dr. Anand Nayyar received his Ph.D (Computer Science) from Desh Bhagat University in 2017 in Wireless Sensor Networks and Swarm Intelligence. He is currently working in School of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (SCA), Duy Tan University, Vietnam. He has published numerous research papers in various high-impact journals and holds 100 Patents to his credit in the area of Wireless Communications, Artificial Intelligence, IoT and Image Processing.

Dr. Mohd Naved is an Associate Professor at Jaipuria Institute of Management in Noida, India, with over a decade of experience in Business Analytics, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence. His research focuses on the applications of business analytics, data science, and artificial intelligence across various industries.

Anuj Kumar Singh is working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Adani University, Ahmedabad (India). He has more than 18 years of teaching experience in technical education. He holds a Ph.D degree in the field of Computer Science and Engineering from Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow. He has published more than 30 research papers in journals and conferences including Scopus and SCIE, he has also authored one book and edited three. He has been granted four patents and has filed one. His areas of specialization include Cryptography, Network and Information Security, Blockchain Technology, Intelligent Systems, and Algorithm Design.

Muhammad Bilal is Assistant Professor in the Division of Computer and Electronic Systems Engineering at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Rep. of Korea. He earned his PhD in Information and Communication Network Engineering in 2017 at the University of Science and Technology Korea. He then served as a Graduate Research Fellow at Protocol Engineering Center, Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, then was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Korea University. His research interests include Network Optimization, IoT, Information Centric Network, Network Security, Cryptology, Machine Learning, and Vehicular Networks. He has over 40 publications in international refereed journals. He was an Invited Guest Researcher at I3S laboratory, CNRS, Sophia Antipolis, France. He’s an editorial board member of IEEE Internet Policy Newsletter and IEEE Future Directions Ethics and Policy in Technology Status, and Guest editor of Edge Intelligence in Internet of Things using Machine Learning, Mobile Information System.
