Synopsis
What if the best lessons in life came on four legs, covered in fur, and occasionally chewed your favorite shoes? or beloved antique table?
For as long as she can remember, dogs have been her greatest teachers, her most loyal companions, and sometimes, the only reason she got out of bed in the morning. Xine's Pack of Strays & Others is a memoir filled with the chaos, joy, heartbreak, and hilarity that comes with loving a pack of misfits—both the canine and human kind.
From Shetland Sheepdogs to Brittanys, Goldendoodles to Aussie Shepherds, and a few lovable mutts in between, her life has been shaped by the dogs who found her when she needed them most. Some were rescues. Some rescued her. Their personalities shine and tell a story, teach lessons, and made her rethink everything she thought she knew about companionship, healing, and how the smallest moments can mean the most.
This isn't just a book about dogs—it's about life. The unexpected twists, the painful goodbyes, the belly laughs, and the moments of pure love that make it all worth it. If you've ever had a pet steal your heart, test your patience, or remind you to live in the moment, you'll find a kindred spirit in these pages.
Come meet the pack. Promise you'll fall in love.
About the Author
Christine "Xine" Segalas has always believed that a home isn't complete without a dog (or three) by your side. A lifelong writer and passionate animal lover, she started journaling as a girl. She never stopped, filling pages with stories of the dogs who shaped her life. Those stories became Xine's Pack of Strays & Others, a heartfelt tribute to the joy, lessons, and unconditional love that furry companions bring.
Born and raised in New York City, Xine's path has taken her from the world of finance to a life dedicated to creativity, writing, and helping others grow—both through her work in sustainable living and her storytelling. She now lives on a mountain in New Hampshire with her husband, Mark, their three dogs, and a flock of chickens, embracing each day as an artist, gardener, and explorer of life.
