Octavo, 8.25 in. x 5.75 in. pp. 199. Illustrated with seven black and white photographs. Blue-green cloth boards with gilt title to spne. Rubbing to extremities with a touch of scuffing to front board. Corners lightly nudged. Front hinge showing. Previous owner's ink stamp to top of front free endpaper. Touch of spotting to rear endpapers. From the author's introduction: "Never mind, Helen, your Uncle Frank is going to tell you a story about the time he was on a Government Survey in western Nebraska; also about some of the things he did and saw while prospecting and mining in the Black Hills of South Dakota for forty years. There is no fiction about it, either, for every word is true. So here goes:".
