Year Book, The Society Of Colonial Wars In The Commonwealth Of Kentucky, 1917: To Which Is Added A Calendar Of The Warrants For Land In Kentucky, Granted For Services In The French And Indian War

Behind every acre on the Kentucky frontier lies a story of courage, service and claim. Year Book of the Society of Colonial Wars in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, 1917, gathers those stories into a rare blend of lineage, history and memory. Every name here tells stories. Prepared by Philip Fall Taylor, it brings together details of Kentucky lineage society members with a meticulously arranged calendar of the warrants for land in Kentucky granted for French and Indian War service, opening a window on the 18th century Kentucky frontier and the wider Virginia and Kentucky colonial period. As a colonial American history reference, this volume preserves a unique land grant record collection, tracing how colonial era land warrants rewarded colonial militia service records and other early American military records. For family historians, it functions as a rich source of Kentucky genealogy records: names, dates, places and connections that anchor elusive ancestors in time, place and regiment, supporting serious enquiry as a family history research resource alongside Society of Colonial Wars genealogy. Out of print for decades and now republished by Alpha Editions, the work is restored for today's and future generations in a form suited to both casual readers of history and dedicated collectors. More than a reprint - a collector's item and a cultural treasure, it offers anyone drawn to the making of early America a tangible link to the people whose service shaped the land that became Kentucky.
