[Richard Percy Lewis. Wicket-keeper. Oxford cricketer] By general consent of the critics the wicket keeping of the young Wykehamist, R.P. LEWIS, was one of the most striking features of Public School Cricket in 1893. Were any proof of his ability wanting even in his Winchester days, it would be found in his presence in the Surrey Eleven at the end of the same season. The Oxford Eleven last year was in want of a wicket keeper so that LEWIS came to their assistance most opportunely. Both in 1894 and 1895 he did good service to the University in his capacity as stumper, though his hands have compelled him to stand down more than once this summer. Still at his best he is considerably above the average of amateur wicket keepers, as he is very quick in getting the ball to the stumps and has any amount of pluck

[George Alfred Lohmann. Right-arm medium fast bowler. Surrey cricketer] The doings of GEORGE LOHMANN, the Surrey Cricketer, from 1884 to 1892, constitute a really brilliant record of all-round cricket. In the nine years, in first-class matches, he scored 5,702 runs, took 1,397 wickets, and made 244 catches, 85 of them from his own bowling. Though a fine free hitter and a splendid field anywhere, it is as a bowler that he has been best known. Of medium pace and with a break either way, he used his head well, and on certain wickets was unplayable. His best year was in 1890, when he took 220 wickets. Though born at Kensington on June 2nd, 1865, learned his Cricket in Surrey. Has been in South Africa two years for his health, but is coming home with a view to play again for surrey this summer

[William Gilbert Jr. Grace. All-rounder. Cambridge cricketer] If there is little of nothing to recal his father's style, still W.G. GRACE, Jun., is no unworthy son of the greatest Cricketer the world has ever known. Educated at Clifton College, he was not only one of the most useful players in the Eleven there, but also one of the best all-round athletes. His Captaincy in 1893, was marked with great success, individual as well as collective, and he went up to Cambridge fairly certain of his blue last year. In this he was disappointed, and indeed, though he scored well in other matches, even this summer it was for a long time doubtful if he would be successful. His ultimate inclusion in the Cambridge Eleven gave general satisfaction, and he fairly justified his selection by two useful scores in the Inter-University match.
