Born in Omaha in in 1913 he was raised in a household very firmly rooted in the Missouri Synod of the Lutheran Church. This is, simply put, one of the most conservative branches of Protestantism in the United states. After graduating from St. Paul's College, strongly affiliated with the Missouri Synod; He spent the next two decades as a pastor at various Lutheran churches. The move to Caldwell, Idaho was made in late spring of 1959 when Lang accepted a call to Grace Lutheran Church. He resigned from Grace Lutheran in 1963 to assume duties as executive director of the newly-formed Bible-Science Association. The goals of the Association, as stated on the masthead of the Newsletter, are to promote the following concepts: special creation, literal Bible interpretation, divine design and purpose in nature, a young earth, a universal Noahic flood, Christ as God and Man?our Savior, and Christ-centered scientific research. There are numerous seemingly scientific papers presented herein and it seems thee dating the earth is a favorite subjectA helpful convention was held in 1976 in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. Dr. John Cunningham, chairman of the Science Department at Northwestern College in Roseville (suburb), made arrangements to hold the convention at this school. Assisting were members of the Twin Cities Creation-Science Association, a branch chapter of BSA. This was a professional type of convention with a call for papers being issued. Again, there were two divisions ? technical and popular. About 1000 copies of essays were printed in advance, but the book soon ran out of print. Actively assisting with the convention particulars were Paul and Kathy Sorenson, Norman Gullixson, Vince Nelson, Bob Helfinstine, Jerry Roth, Rev. Hans Theiste, Bill and Ann Overn, plus others.
