SIGNED BINDING. Bound by Hatchards of Piccadilly in period three-quarter red morocco, the spine gilt decorated in art nouveau style with floral tendril bottom to top design around five raised bands, pink cloth sides, top edge gilt. Spine slightly faded and light rubbing. Pleasant examples of turn-of-the-century English bindings. Light pastel marbled endpapers with armorial bookplate of Arthur E. Eastwood. Overall in near excellent condition. A good gift. Charles Kingsley (June 12, 1819 January 23, 1875) was an English novelist, particularly associated with the West Country and North East Hampshire.
