The Yeomanry Regiments

From the formation of the Yeomanry Cavalry in 1794 in anticipation of invasion by revolutionary France, to its use in quelling civil disturbances, such as Peterloo, and serving with distinction in South Africa and in both world wars, the Yeomanry Regiments remain an integral part of military and British social history. Patrick Mileham charts the history, the character and the continuing relevance of the Yeomanry.
