Yoga for Mother and Baby

With a gentle philosophy and harmonious movements that emphasize strength and flexibility, yoga offers new mothers and their babies a unique opportunity to spend rewarding time together―and to enhance mom’s fitness. These exercises are geared towards parents of babies from six weeks to nine months old, with 140 color photographs showing each movement or position. For those mothers trying to reclaim their pre-pregnancy bodies, an additional series of solo exercises and complete routines are also provided. Massage techniques and age-specific stretches are detailed, and precise movements are recommended to address such common infant conditions as colic and restless sleep, all while laying the foundation of emotional well-being that will last a lifetime.

Julie Llewellyn-Thomas is a Birthlight teacher for pregnancy yoga and also for baby yoga. She trained in yoga therapy at the Yoga Therapy Centre in London and also has a Masters Degree in Health Education. She has recently started yoga therapy for patients with critical illnesses at the Cromwell Hospital in London.
