Gaeta, 2026; br., pp. 54, ill., cm 21,5x27,9. Yokai! is a roleplaying game set in Japan where, for once, you are the monster. Japanese folklore overflows with spirits, demons, and uncanny presences-yokai born from human fears, desires, and obsessions. Some come from forgotten objects, others from long-lived animals. Their ranks are vast and ever-growing. In Yokai!, players embody these supernatural beings with a single goal: gain power. Fear and Reverence fuel you, but they also draw enemies-ancient hunters, rival yokai, even the yakuza. The stronger your legend becomes, the harsher the world pushes back. The system is quick to learn and fast to run, welcoming newcomers while offering depth for veterans, suitable for both one-shots and long campaigns. Rooted in real Japanese folklore, Yokai! has also appeared in art exhibitions, museums, and academic discussions. Playing it means stepping into contemporary Japan and its living mythology through a dynamic, cinematic experience. This Quickstart Guide gives you everything you need to begin: pre-generated characters, streamlined rules, and an introductory Tokyo adventure.…

In Yōkai!, players take on the roles of these supernatural creatures with one clear ambition: to grow in power. Fear and Reverence sustain you, but they also attract dangerous attention. Ancient hunter orders. Rival yōkai. Even the yakuza. The more your legend spreads, the harder the world pushes back.
The system is easy to learn and fast to run, welcoming newcomers while offering depth for experienced players. It works just as well for one-shot sessions as it does for long-running campaigns.
Yōkai!’s deep respect for Japanese folklore and cultural context has carried it beyond the gaming table, with appearances in art exhibitions, museums, and academic discussions. Stepping into Yōkai! means diving into contemporary Japan and its living mythology through a dynamic, cinematic roleplaying experience.
This Quickstart Guide includes everything you need to begin right away: pre-generated characters, streamlined core rules, and an introductory adventure set in Tokyo.
