12mo 7" - 7�" tall; HC in publisher's trade cloth with decorative blind stamping to boards and decorative title lettering in gilt to spine. Complete 3 vols bound together; title page dated 1847. With extra engraved title page at front and engraved frontis pages for the 2nd and 3rd volumes. Period University literary society bookplate mounted to front pastedown; remanants of a small hand lettered paper label to spine. Binding split at the front endpage hinge. Cloth lightly frayed at spine ends; board lightly bumped and rubbed at corners. Occasional foxing to the contents. 6 and [8] page Appleton catalogs and notices appended at rear, including a description for the "tales of the People" series of which Guizot's book was included. Generally solid and neat. G++.
