About the Author
Dr. Donald W. Clark studied at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he received his Ph.D. in anthropology. He retired from the position of curator of Yukon Archaeology and curator-in-charge of the Archaeological Survey of Canada, Canadian Museum of Civilization, in August 1997, and presently lives in Ottawa, Ontario. Dr. Clark has participated in or led nearly 40 digs in the District of Mackenzie, the Yukon, and along the Koyukuk River and around Kodiak Island in Alaska since the 1950s.
Yvette Brend was born in Seattle, and grew up in Victoria, British Columbia. A forme reporter for the Whitehorse Star, she now works for the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.
John Steinbachs is a former reporter who covered the mining beat for the Whitehorse Star. He now works for the Yukon Territorial Government.
Norman Kagan lives in Minnesota, but grew up in New York City, and earned his first, second and third degrees in the sciences at Columbia, Stanford and the Rockefeller Universities. For relaxation, he would lose himself on a wilderness river, none being better than the Ross and the Nahanni. After years of hearing the tall tales of that country, he decided to investigate, and has been most successful.
Frank Norris is a National Park Service historian living in Anchorage. He is co-author of Chilkoot Trail, Heritage Route to the Klondike.
