Arranged in dictionary format, this guide defines more than 200 terms relating to childhood behavior. Entries range in length from very brief (for terms such as pica or rocking ) to several pages (for entries like anxiety or aggression ) , but in all cases the authors define the behavior and identify its normal occurrence. In some cases, the definitions lead to short sections on problem-solving and references for further reading. Although full-length books are available on many of the topics found here (e.g., autism, reactions to parental divorce), this volume succeeds as a quick reference on appropriate social behavior for children under the age of 13.
