About this Item

First edition thus, the scarce hardback 25th anniversary edition with a new introduction by Pirsig reflecting on the past 25 years and correcting mistakes and misconceptions. Also includes the heart-breaking afterward from the 10th anniversary edition in which Pirsig speaks of the murder if his son Chris, who was stabbed to death during a mugging outside the San Francisco Zen Center just weeks shy of his 23rd birthday. SIGNED BY PIRSIG on the front endpaper. This 25th anniversary edition was simultaneously issued in softcover and must have had a small hardback print run because it is otherwise unaccountably scarce. Though the numberline would seem to indicate this is a later printing, we assume the plates from the 17th printing were used for this edition. Minor bumps to spine ends, still fine in bright, near fine dust jacket with only light edge wear. Bookseller Inventory # 53613
