L'abitudine porta alla disattenzione, la consuetudine visiva col ritratto in piedi sul piedistallo conduce ad una sorta di cecit�. � la sorte di molti dei Monumenti ai Caduti che arredano le nostre piazze e i nostri giardini urbani. Una condanna analoga � quella che ha talvolta reso marginale un manufatto architettonico che pure ha una storia cos� gloriosa come gli acquedotti. Privi spesso di emergenze cosiddette artistiche di particolare evidenza, gli acquedotti si negano perfino ad una visione complessiva, al colpo d'occhio distratto, al riassunto prospettico. A volte, ed � il caso dolorosissimo degli acquedotti qui illustrati, sono stati perfino considerati come noiosi impedimenti allo sviluppo del mondo moderno; altre volte, puntellati alla meglio da impalcature esse stesse ormai 'storiche', stanno invece l�, come una iattura, sopportati e supportati da qualche restauro di emergenza. Ovviamente tutto non � uguale, e la condizione di esistenza dell'acquedotto lucchese � ben migliore dell'altro pisano, anche perch� il pi� recente � arricchito da elementi architettonici di pregio assoluto (che, sia detto di passaggio, segnalano un architetto, Lorenzo Nottolini, che meriterebbe studi aggiornati e calibrati, che ci sembra avere avuto la statura di un gigante). Tuttavia una campagna fotografica come quella che qui troverete, serve, ci auguriamo, a ben valutare come la nostra sia davvero una regione fortunata.
