This copy inscribed on the front free endpaper to "Mrs. Theodora DeW[olf] Colt, with the sincere respect of Edw. N. Dickerson, Jan., 1857." Theodora DeWolf Colt was the mother of Samuel Pomeroy Colt, founder of the U.S. Rubber Co. (later Uniroyal). His 500-acre property in Bristol, RI is now Colt State Park. Usually found in printed wrappers, the limp cloth bindings may have been made for presentation.
