General Info ; William Rhind was a Victorian scriptural geologist who lectured on botany at Marischal College in Aberdeen, Scotland. This is one of the exquisite prints by William Rhind that represent some popular exotic plants in the vegetable kingdom. The superb prints offered in this series were drawn and engraved by Walter Hood Fitch, J. Stewart. Fitch was a botanical was a botanical illustrator, born in Glasgow, Scotland, who executed some 10,000 drawings for various publications. His work in colour lithograph, including 2700 illustrations for Curtis's Botanical Magazine, produced up to 200 plates per year. He has been said to have been the most outstanding botanical artist of his day in Europe. This is a genuine original antique print, not a reproduction.
