Single page Map Print on the back. 1894 Antique Colour Map of Naples, a historical chart map of the largest city in southern Italy and capital of the Campania region and Province of Naples. Naples is known for being the traditional home of pizza, specifically the Pizza Margherita, which is made with mozzarella cheese, tomato, and basil to represent the colors of the Italian flag. The pizza was named for Queen Margherita, who was served the dish during a visit to the city. True Neapolitan pizza should be made in a wood-burning oven, and there is a certification body that recognizes pizza places around the world that meet this standard. Naples was founded by the Greeks in the 7th-6th centuries BC and was known as Neapolis. During Roman rule, the city maintained its Greek language and culture. Over the centuries, Naples has been ruled by various groups, including the Byzantines, Longobards, Normans, Swabians, Angevins, Aragoneses, Spaniards, Bourbons, and Gauls, all of whom have left their mark on the city's monuments, culture, and traditions. Naples was also the capital of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies and, after the Congress of Vienna, the Kingdom of Naples.
