About this Item

Copperplate engraving and etching on hand laid paper. Original hand colouring. Description: This scarse medical healing plant print originates from: 'Afbeelding der Artseny-Gewassen.', a Dutch edition of 'Icones Plantarum Medicinalium. Abbildungen von Arzneygewaechsen.', by J. Zorn, Nurnberg, Germany, 1780. This plate is from a 1796 Dutch edition, consisting of 5 volumes with 500 plates. We acquired a small incomplete lot of prints from this work and did not see it offered anywhere else.Artists and Engravers: Author: Johannes Zorn (1739-1799) was a German pharmacist and botanist.
