This attractive original old antique print / plate originates from: 'Natuurlyke Historie of Uitvoerige Beschryving der Dieren, Planten en Mineraalen.' by F. Houttuyn and J. van der Burgh, published in Amsterdam 1761-1785. (Translation: Natural history or extensive desription of animals, plants and minerals .) This is essentially a Dutch version of 'Linnaeus Systema Naturae', enlarged, amended and with plates.Artists and Engravers: Author: Maarten Houttuyn (1720-1798) was a Dutch physician in Amsterdam. Carl or Carolus Linnaeus (1707-1778) (also known as Carl von Linne after his ennoblement) was a Swedish botanist, physician and zoologist. He is considered the father of modern Taxonomy and ecology. The engravers of the plates are J.C. Philips and G. Philips.Condition: Excellent. General age related toning. A bit more browned at the paper edges. In 2018 he decided to further develop his personal collection through 'Pictura Prints'. Peter has a background in design and landscape architecture and holds a degree in paper restauration. He holds shop in Overasselt, a small town on the Maas river near Nijmegen, The Netherlands, which can be visited by appointment. He is a member of the Dutch Association of Antiquarians (NVVA) and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB).

We ship worldwide and package our items meticulously. We carry an umbrella insurance policy. Our shipment rates are based on shipments up to 1 kg. For heavier shipments we will contact you with a quote. Currently our surcharge for international shipments over 1 kg is 9,14 euro / kg. In addition POST NL temporarly charges 3,60 euro per kg due to CORONA related logistics. We ship by registered mail through POST NL.
