Antique Master Print, untitled. A merchant of statuettes selling a statue of the god of love, near a vase. From a set with landscapes in the 'antique' taste. Ref: L/E 26 Etching on laid paper. Watermark: Coat of arms with a French lily Made by 'Salomon Gessner' after own design. Salomon Gessner (1730-1788) was born and active in Switserland. He was multi-talented, being a painter, poet and etcher. As a painter he represented the Arcadian classical landscape. Very good, given age. Large uncut margins. Some foxing.
