Copper engraved contemporary hand coloured map of the Dutch provinces of Zuid Holland and a part of Zeeland including Voorne-Putten, Goeree-Overvlakkee, Dordrecht, Rotterdam, Schiedam, Delft and The Hague. Copper engraving on verge type hand laid paper with watermark. Original hand colour. Description: The map originates from: 'La Hollande en 12 feuilles dont les six premieres contiennent La Hollande septentrionale ou la partie septentrionale, du comtĂ de Hollande, le Texel, la Frise, Groningue, Drente, et partie de l'Over-Yssel', published in Paris by Jean A. Dezauche, successeur des Srs. Delisle et Buache, 1790.Artists and Engravers: G. L. le Rouge (1707-1790) was a French military engineer, hydrographer and cartographer. He produced a wide rang of attractive cartographic work. He held a position of Geographical Engineer to King Louis XV. Condition: Excellent; general age related toning; some light staining from handling. Several small tears in paper edges not effecting image.
