Plate: 'Trusty Dick Penderell.' Richard Penderel (c.1606 - 1672) was a Roman Catholic farmer, and a supporter of the Royalist cause during the English Civil War. He assisted with the escape of Charles II after the Battle of Worcester in September 1651. Original etching / engraving on a vellin type paper. Description: This attractive original old antique satirical print / plate originates from: 'Portraits, memoirs and characters, of remarkable persons, from the reign of Edward the third, to the Revolution. Collected from the most authentic accounts extant', by James Caulfield, London 1813. This work consists of descriptions of remarkable events and objects, and lives of eccentric individuals.Artists and Engravers: Author: James Caulfield (1764�1826), British author and printseller. Engraver unknown. Condition: Excellent given age. General age related toning and occasional light foxing. Some brown spots mainly in the margins. Paper edges ocassionally a bit frayed and chipped.
