Plate T15: Different birds in their natural environment - habitat: Zee kribben birds (Aan de steenen hoofden). Colour Lithograph. Description: These scarse decorative lithographs originate from the famous work 'De Vogels', published in 1878. Each print is accompanied by a sheet describing the bird species. You will find more items from this series in our store.Artists and Engravers: The author Hermann Schlegel (1804-1884) was a German Zoologist. He was working for the Rijksmuseum of Natural History in Leiden since 1825. Since 1828 he was the conservator. From 1860 until his death he was director. He mostly studied the animals of the Netherlands and its colonial possessions. The lithographs were made by P.W.M. Trap. Condition: Fine; some discolouring along the paper edge; general age related toning; paper is slightly larger as shown on scan; some folding and roughness along top of paper from binding. Storage location: C64-46 The overall size is ca. 8.7 x 5.7 inch. The image size is ca. 6.9 x 4.5 inch. The overall size is ca. 22 x 14.5 cm. The image size is ca. 17.5 x 11.5 cm.
