Antique print, titled: 'Paysanne de Brabant.' - A peasant girl from Brabant. Etching / engraving on hand laid paper. Description: Source unknown, to be determined. Reverse copy based on the set Picart made in the early 18 th. century. Printed in brown.Artists and Engravers: Made by an anonymous engraver, Dutch school after 'Bernard Picart'. Bernard Picart (1673-1733) was a French painter and engraver. He received his art education from his father, Etienne (1632-1721), from Le Brun and Jouvenet at the Royal Academy. His talents developed rapidly: at the age of sixteen he gained honors at the Academy of Paris. His prints in the "French" taste were very popular. His way of working was also very influential for the book illustration in the Netherlands Condition: Very good, given age. Full margins. Left edge uneven from binding.
