Antique print, titled: 'Os cordis secreta revelat.' - ("The mouth reveals the secrets of the heart"). One cupid lashing at another who touches his shoulder where it hurts. Handcoloured etching on hand laid paper. Description: From: "Amorum Emblemata, figuris Aeneis incisa Studio Othonis Vaeni." Published in Antwerp (1608) by the Otto van Veen and printed by Hieronymus Verdussen.Artists and Engravers: Made by an anonymous engraver after 'Otto van Veen'. Otto van Veen, also known by his Latinized name Otto Venius or Octavius Vaenius, (c.1556 6 May 1629) was a painter, draughtsman, and humanist active primarily in Antwerp and Brussels in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth century. Condition: Very good, given age. The edges of the sheet faintly soiled. A faint horizontal crease in the middle of the sheet. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling.
