Antique print, titled: 'Ecole de Cavalerie', ('Riding School'), engraved title page, showing several horses and riders in an architectural background. Etching/engraving on hand laid (verge) paper, with watermark. Watermark not visible on every sheet. Description: This print originates from the 8vo (octavo) edition of Fancois Robichon de Guerniere's 'Ecole de Cavalerie contenant La Connoissance, l'Instruction, et la Conservation du Cheval'. This edition was published in 1769 in Paris. We also stock plates from the earlier (1733) quarto edition of the same work.Artists and Engravers: Engraved by B. Audran after C. Parrocel. Benoit II Audran (1698-1772), also the Younger to distinguish him form his uncle, was a French engraver and was a pupil of his father, Jean Audran. Benoit engraved prints after Veronese, Poussin, Watteau and other French artists. Charles Parrocel (1688-1752) was a French painter and engraver, specialised in battle and hunting scenes. Condition: Good, given age. Right side and bottom a little soiled, a small stain in middle of the print. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling.
