Antique print, untitled. A depiction of the dutch lion with the different coats of arms from the provinces of the Netherlands. Engraving on laid paper. Description: From "A general historie of the Netherlands". Ref: Hollstein 74.Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Christoffel van Sichem I' after 'Christoffel van Sichem'. Christoffel van Sichem I (1546-1624) was active as printmaker/publisher in Amsterdam and Leiden. He spent some years in Antwerp. Christoffel and his brother Karel van Sichem (1575-1604) were both active as graphic artists. They fled from the Southern Netherlands to the Northern Netherlands in the end of the sixteenth century. He was the father of Christoffel van Sichem II (1581-1658). Condition: Good, given age. Thread margins. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling.
