Antique print, titled: 'Der Barbier von Sevilla [.].' - A scene from "The barber of Sevilla". Illustration to an unidentified book. Illustration to an unidentified book. Engraving on wove paper. Made by 'Johann Heinrich Ramberg' after own design. Johann Heinrich Ramberg (Hanover 1763-1840) was a German painter and printmaker. He was initially employed by George III, and made humorous sketches and caricatures for him. He subsequently moved to London where he met Reynolds and Bartolozzi. In London he studied under Benjamin West and began exhibiting at the Royal Academy in 1784. He traveled through Europe before returning to Hanover in 1792, to be appointed electoral court painter. Good, given age. No margins. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully. The overall size is ca. 8.2 x 12.5 cm.
