'La Racommodeuse de Dentelle.' (The lace mender.) This original print shows: a lady and her handmaiden visiting the lace mender, and showing her the contemplated repairs. A small dog stand behind her chair. Colour stipple and line engraving on a verge type handlaid paper. Colouring both by hand and coloured on the plate (a-la-Pouppee). Description: Separately published master print. Our definition of master print is a seperately published print or series of prints, not being an illustrative print to a text. These can both be prints made by old masters (artists) or prints made by others (artists, engravers, etchers) after old masters. Originally published in c. 1770. This is a later ed.Artists and Engravers: Engraved by Bonnet after J.B. Huet. Louis-Marin Bonnet (1736-1793) was a French Rococo engraver. Jean-Baptiste Huet (Paris 1745-1811) was a French painter, engraver and designer associated with pastoral and genre scenes of animals in Rococo manner. Condition: Very good given age. Margins faintly dampstained (not affecting image). A small spot of paper damage in the image at the right chair. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling.
