This edition was printed around 1700, based on the watermark by the Publisher Nicolaes Visscher II (1649-1702). The set is usually published as "Groote Figuer-bijbel"or "Theatrum Biblicum". The Visscher family published these already antique plates from 1649 on. Ref: After Hollstein 212 Theatrum Biblicum. Engraving on Laid paper. Watermark: Coat of arms of Amsterdam with a lower beam. Made by an anonymous engraver after 'Johannus Stradanus'. Johannus Stradanus (also: Jan van der Straat or Giovanni Stradano, 1523-1605) was a Flanders-born mannerist artist active in 16th century Florence. Very good, given age. Large margins. Some foxing.
