Antique print, titled: 'Workum.' - A reproduction of an originally manuscript plan of the city Woudrichem in the Netherlands. "Nederlandsche Steden in de 16e Eeuw", R. Fruin, published 's-Gravenhage, Nijhoff, 1916-1923. A scarce facsimile edition of ca. 200 maps by Jacob van Deventer. Lithography on machine laid (verge) paper. Watermark: Martinus Nijhoff 's-Gravenhage Made by 'J. Smulders' after 'Jacob van Deventer'. Jacob van Deventer (ca. 1500-1575) was a Dutch cartographer, best known for his mammoth work in which he mapped all the cities of the Netherlands (by commission of the King of Spain, and with military intent). Very good, given age. Small stains in margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully. The overall size is ca. 15.7 x 20.1 cm.
