This is an original political cartoon by Arthur Moreland, dated June 29th 1914 with the subject matter relating to the Welsh Church Act 1914. Moreland was the Political cartoonist for The Morning Leader Newspaper, The Welsh Church Act 1914, is an Act of Parliament under which the Church of England was separated and disestablished in Wales and Monmouthshire, leading to the creation of the Church in Wales. The Act had long been demanded by the Nonconformist community in Wales, which composed the majority of the population and which resented paying taxes to the Church of England. It was sponsored by the Liberal Party (a stronghold of the Nonconformists) and opposed by the Conservative Party (a stronghold of the Anglicans) The pen and ink cartoon is on a piece of old art card measuring 12 inches by 9 inches approx., this is a lighter item, overseas shipping costs will be reduced accordingly at checkout where possible.
