About this Item

Description:

The Boston Massacre, occurring on the evening of March 5, 1770, was a tragic event that escalated tensions between the American colonists and British troops. A confrontation between a group of colonists and British soldiers led to the soldiers opening fire, resulting in the death of five colonists. The incident fueled anti-British sentiment and became a symbol of colonial resentment towards British rule. Among the victims was Crispus Attucks, an African American, often considered the first casualty of the American Revolution. The Boston Massacre played a significant role in galvanizing support for the patriot cause, further inflaming the desire for independence, and became a pivotal moment in the lead-up to the Revolutionary War.
