This decorative, folio botanical lithograph is from Karl Ludwig Blume & Johann Baptist Fischer's Flora Javae nec non Insularum Adjacentum. This first edition work was published in Brussels by J. Frank between 1828 and 1830. This was considered the most important work on the flora of Java.Karl Blume (1796-1862) was a Dutch botanist, author, and director of the Rijks Herbarium in Leiden. He created this major work on flora of the Dutch East Indies particularly focused on Javan plants which was then a colony of the Netherlands.Provenance: Philippe de Vilmorin, bookplate; Robert de Belder. --- The work is in very good to excellent condition overall.
