One of a limited edition of 500 numbered plates commissioned by the National Art Fund and produced by Wedgwood. Contained in its original presentation box and complete with the descriptive booklet contained in envelope, as called for. Size: 30.5cm diameter. Plate, descriptive catalogue and envelope in Fine condition; Presentation box has a split in one corner of the lid o/w in Very Good condition. Note from the V&A web page where a complete set of these art plates are held: 'The National Art Collections Fund (now Art Fund) commissioned a series of plates designed by the contemporary artists John Piper (1903 1992), Patrick Caulfield (1936 2005), Patrick Heron (1920 1999), Eduardo Paolozzi (1924 2005), Peter Blake (b.1932) and Bruce McLean (b.1944). Each plate playfully represented its designer s style using silk-screen printing, enamelling or gilding. The artist s signature appears on the reverse of the plate with the factory mark or backstamp. This plate entitled Passed the Tangerine Test was designed by Bruce McLean and is decorated with an abstract blond women s face and green pear, against a bright blue background.
