Dieter Roth - Signed - Original Lithograph on paper - 1981

This work by Dieter Roth is a prime example of the artists innovative and often subversive approach to visual language. The lithograph combines vibrant neon colors, wild gestural lines, and overlapping figures in a chaotic yet highly expressive composition that bridges drawing, printing, and psychological introspection. *** Print is hand-signed and dated (`81)in pencil by Roth at the lower right *** Hand-numbered at the lower center. *** Lower center the text : Selbsthebertraum (Self-Lifting Dream) *** Sheet size: 75 × 63 cm *** A standout example of Roths late-period printmaking, when he increasingly fused text, imagery, and auto-fictional elements into singular, raw works of art *** The work exemplifies Roths fascination with fragmentation and identity. The intense layering of abstract forms and human-like figures evokes themes of inner turmoil and existential questioning, rendered through a frenetic visual vocabulary. The use of neon inks and contrasting outlines pushes the lithographic medium beyond conventional boundaries, in line with Roths experimental ethos. *** Catalogue raisonné: Dobke 450 *** Dieter Roth was a Swiss-German artist, poet, and polymath who worked across a wide range of media including printmaking, sculpture, installation, artists books, and sound.
