Facsimile lithograph. Image is 38 x 27 cm + border. Originally published ; Eugène Flandin; Pascal Xavier Coste: Voyage en Perse pendant les années 1840 et 1841. Paris: Gide et Jule Baudry, MDCCCLI. Lithograph originally produced in 1851. In 1840, Flandin and the architect-archaeologist Pascal Coste were sent on a mission to Persia by the Institute. The mission, led by Édouard de Sercey, is to renew political and economic ties with Tehran, abandoned since 1809, to gather as much information as possible on the development of the country under the reign of Mohammad Shah, and to make an inventory of ancient and modern monuments.
