Intricate surrealist etching featuring a central nude male figure at the wheel of a ship. His face is partially obscured by a compass. He is flanked by two nude female figures, holding mechanical or natural objects. Small vignettes in the edges of the image feature, among others, a woman giving a thistle to a man, a cross section of a sail ship, a thistle and a fish.Etching on wove paper. Watermark: Fabriano.Sheet size: 53,3 x 71,6 cm. Image size: 49 x 64,5 cm.Titled (illegible), marked "E/A" (Artist's proof), signed and dated in pencil by the artist in the lower margin. With an additional workshop blindstamp in the lower margin.Made by 'Fodor Petroff' after own design. We have not been able to further identify this artist.Condition: Very good, given age. Some creasing in the top margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.(PCO) Lade 4 @ PCO.

Pictura Prints offers mostly antique prints, art, maps and books. Since 2004 the owner Peter Cornelissen started Theprintscollector and has been in business as a print and book seller. In 2018 he decided to further develop his personal collection through 'Pictura Prints'. Peter has a background in design and landscape architecture and holds a degree in paper restauration. He holds shop in Overasselt, a small town on the Maas river near Nijmegen, The Netherlands, which can be visited by appointment. Pictura Prints guarantees the items to be as described. We always add scans or photographs to our listings. Further information is possibly available on request. Certificates of autenticity (COA) can be provided on request. We use margin tax treatment.
Shipping terms
We ship worldwide and package our items meticulously. We carry an umbrella insurance policy. Our shipment rates are based on shipments up to 1 kg. For heavier shipments we will contact you with a quote. Currently our surcharge for international shipments over 1 kg is 9,14 euro / kg. In addition POST NL temporarly charges 3,60 euro per kg due to CORONA related logistics. We ship by registered mail through POST NL. Expedited shipping or shipment through another carrier is available on request at a possible surcharge.
