About this Item

From Ackermann's Microcosm of London here is a hand coloured aquatint, J.C. Stadler was the engraver, Rowlandson and Pugin the designers/artists. Measures just 10.5 inches x 14 inches, 26 x 35 cm approx. Published Nov 1st 1808. Unframed and a single image from the book, lovely colouring, clean margins, odd light foxing to margins on left. Very Good+. *Begun with 15 beds in 1745, the first with lying in beds for maternity patients, broken up in 1924 when the original building was deemed unsafe and finally closed in 2005. We very rarely use "fine" or "mint" as a description, mainly due to the age and the fact that 99.9% of what we sell has been pre-owned and therefor Fine would not be a term for a book we sell despite its fine-like appearance. We always take items back unreservedly if not in the condition as described. We always try to describe fully.
