Quadro: óleo sobre tela com um cavalheiro do século XVIII, pintado ao estilo impressionista. Dado o quadro ser proveniente de uma casa senhorial portuguesa, cremos tratar-se de William Beckford (1774-1843) que visitou Portugal e escreveu sobre o nosso país. Cópia original de um óleo antigo que se encontrava no Museu Kaiser Friederich, inaugurado em 1904 em Berlim (hoje Museu Bode). Na parte posterior da tela encontra-se manuscrito o seguinte texto: «Original-copie nach Romney Kaiser Friederich Museum von Charlotte Clisksman. Berlin Charlottengur. Kunststrasse 28 II.» [Cópia original de Charlotte Cliskman do quadro no museu Romney Kaiser Friederich (.)] Circa 1890-1900. Dimensions: Canvas: 58x79 cm. Frame: 75x98 cm. Weight: 4.8 kg. Contemporary wooden frame. Painting: Oil on Canvas, showing a 18th Century gentleman, painted in impressionist style. We believe that, since its origin was from a Portuguese Manor, it depicts William Beckford (1774-1843), who visited and wrote about Portugal. It is an original copy of an earlier oil painting once at the Kaiser Friederich Museum, opened in 1904 in Berlin, and now with the name Bode Museum. The back of the canvas presents the handwritten caption: «Original-copie nach Romney Kaiser Friederich Museum von Charlotte Clisksman. Berlin Charlottengur.
