Graphic area measures ~47.2 in. x 54.75 in.; text panel at bottom measures ~47.2 in. x 9.75 in.; entire sheet measures ~47.2 in. x 65 in. Age toning throughout print. 4 in. partial vertical tear originating at bottom edge. AW Consignment. Shelved at Rockville Room J. "The Last Judgment" engraving engraving by Peeter De Jode (1570-1634), after Jean Cousin The Son "This impressive Last Judgment is made up of a print in nine assembled paper plates. Assembly of very beautiful proofs bearing the inscription "JOHANNES COUSIN SENONIENCIS INVENIT ET PINXIT, PETRUS DE IODE IN AES INCIDIT A PARIS CHEZ P. DREVET AUX GALLERIES." This is a work of which Jean Cousin "The Son" (c. 1522-c. 1594) is the creator and painter (invenit et pinxit) and Peter de Jode (1570-1634) the engraver (incidit).The inscription also tells us that these engravings are in Paris, at the home of Pierre Drevet (1663-1738) who was housed in the Louvre (hence the term "aux Galleries"). 1408905.
